 Rovers 2 v 2 Lincoln City

On a gorgeous sunny May morning Doncaster travelled to Lincoln, seeing if they could reproduce the fabulous performance from last week at Hull. However they started off slow in the first period with Lincoln having the upper hand. Without either keeper being troubled Doncaster came alive with some great interplay between Lewis Scattergood and Isaac Westley creating numerous chances but really without troubling the keeper. Then on 11 mins Doncaster broke the deadlock with Isaac Westley braking down the right showing a good turn of pace hitting a low cross which was spilt by the keeper and turned in by the prowling Lewis Scattergood.

Within a minute of the second period Lincoln were back level, with a ball forward and some scrappy defending they managed to turn the ball home. After that Doncaster settled down and with some great interplay between Lewis Scattergood and Joel Tomlinson they created a good chance for Reece Twigg which was saved well by the Lincoln keeper. The rest of this period was a bit scrappy with Doncaster having the better chances only for their keeper to keep Lincoln in the game.

The third period started off with Doncaster on top with numerous shot firing in on the Lincoln goal, then things changed with one swift move a ball was played into the box only for it to hit the hand of Isaac Lindley the ref gave the penlty, this was converted with a low hard shot to the keepers right 2 – 1 Lincoln. This seemed to spur on Doncaster and with a great cross from Jordan Buckham and shot from Reece Twigg the Lincoln keeper was again called into action. Then followed numerous attempts on goal one move leaving the Doncaster lads wondering what they needed to do to score as they hit the cross bar then the post during the same attack, Lincoln managed to hang on.

The final period saw Doncaster camped in Lincoln’s half with wave after wave of attack, corner after corner all excellent from Tom Phillips their keeper just kept stopping them but with 3 minutes to go Doncaster finally managed to get the well deserved equaliser, the ball broke out to Luke Hogg and with a fierce shot from about 18 yards the keeper yes the keeper again tipped it onto the bar but Jordan Buckham was there to pounce knocking in the rebound from close range.

Although scrappy at times Doncaster deserved at least a draw having 23 shots as opposed to Lincoln’s 5 with both Doncaster’s keepers hardly troubled compared to the Lincoln keeper who kept them in the game .Some excellent performances have to go to Reece Twigg, Isaac Westley and Luke ( the terrier ) Hogg.
