Rovers 3 - 3 Nott's County
On an exceptionally breezy but bright sunday morning at the Keepmoat, Rovers were looking to end the season by maintaing ther unbeaten home run, however this was no tall order as County were the successors in the previous encounter.
Rovers started the first period with a strong wind behind them with clear instructions not to lump the ball forward, but to maintain our swift passing game. Rovers didn't disappoint, we started playing out from the back maintaing good possession and not forcing the ball, setting up numerous attacks, Jack Walters and Evan were lively up front, dropping into holes to allow the midfield pair to join in, especially around the penalty box, Louis and Shaun were very tidy in possession, jack McKay and Ryan were getting in behind the full backs, making it difficult for County to defend.
After some great possession and tidy one touch play around their box, the ball was set back to Shaun, he stuck a magnificent 20 yard shot that left the keeper rooted, what a great goal, 1 nil Rovers.
Rovers were creating chance after chance, shortly after the goal, Jack Walters was very unfortunate to see his 20 yard shot come off the underside of the bar and bounce away from goal.
County didn't get into the Doncaster half on many occassions during this period, and when the did, Mason,Brad, Paul and Mack were in control, playing the ball around the back and out the otherside, starting another attack, very similar to the previous phase that agin saw the ball set back to Shaun to smash another 20 yarder in. 2 nil Rovers.
Donacster created a few more chances, however the period ended 2 nil.
The 2nd period saw Doncaster defending against what appeared to be a severe wind, County started brightly scoring almost from the kick off, when their speedy striker hit a shot that appeared to decieve Ryan in goal, 2-1 rovers.
Doncaster were still controlling the game, creating chances, defendind really well, County as expected created a few more chances this period, but nothing to concern the keeper, As the 2nd period was about to end, county were gifted an equalising goal, 2-2.
The 3rd period saw Doncaster again dominating in midfield, with Corrie and Jerry, Mason and Josh were pushing on, forcing County to defend deep, after another good phase of controlled possession, the ball fell to Jerry who struck a fantastic shot from 20 yards, 3-2 Rovers, again Doncaster created chances, the keeper did well to keep the score down.
Into the 4th period Doncaster were well in control, looking comfortable and seeing the game out, when a lapse of concentration scost the boys dearly, a smart finish from the county striker saw the game end 3-3.
Both sides battled well, Rovers played some great football, created numerous chnces and saw the season finish with another good performance, well done boys, enjoy the break
