2009 SWEDEN TOUR

The Rovers were one of many football clubs who took part in the competition, dubbed the World Youth Cup.
Participating in Group One of the boys' under-17 section of the tournament, Doncaster Rovers finished second in the group.
After defeat to IFK Norrkoping in the play-offs, Rovers faced two later games to decide their final standing in the tournament, which was 15th out of 24 teams - an impressive standing considering the youth of the side.
"It's been a terrific experience," said Paul Wilson to DoncasterRoversFC.co.uk.
"I think it's been a terrific experience for everyone and the lads have been a credit to the Club and themselves."
"Their attitude, both on and off the pitch, has been first class and, with six games in six days, it has been difficult for all sixteen players."
"We have all learned a great deal from an excellent tournament. The standard of football here was very high. To finish 15th out of 24 is perhaps a little disappointing, however we were by far the youngest and smallest team in the competition."
"I've certainly learned that the rules of the game need to be applied better if you want to succeed in the Gothia Cup, but we have all gained some valuable experience from this trip and we would love to come back and compete next year."
